Our commitment to patients beyond the lab
While our mission to develop cancer treatment options for patients will always be our main focus, NewLink Genetics also offers patient support through other channels.
NewLink Genetics is pleased to announce that Children’s Cancer Connection (CCC) has been chosen as its charity partner. Founded in 1988 and located in Des Moines, Iowa, CCC works to enhance the quality of life for children with cancer and their families by providing education, recreation and support. NewLink Genetics assists CCC by fund raising and volunteering through our Community Volunteer Day.
Some of the fun and inspiring ways in which our company supports CCC are as follows:
• Annual golf outing: We hosted our 2nd Annual CCC Golf Outing this summer at Coldwater Golf Links in Ames, Iowa. Vendors and local businesses enjoyed a day of golf with proceeds donated to this great cause.
• Pumpkin decorating contest: NewLink Genetics held a fun-filled pumpkin decorating contest at our offices to see who could create the most artistic and creative pumpkins. Each “favorite” pumpkin vote required a donation, thereby contributing to the charity.
• Sponsoring a cabin at Camp Heart Connection: In the summer of 2016, we sponsored a cabin to give children battling cancer the opportunity to attend an exciting week of camp so they could feel like kids again. NewLink Genetics’ Community Volunteer Day made it possible for its employees to volunteer at the camp.
Making a difference by supporting Children’s Cancer Connection means so much to our company. Please contact us if you would like to donate to this incredible cause.
NewLink Genetics is a proud sponsor of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, which champions positive change for those affected by pancreatic cancer. In 2016, we were thrilled to support and participate as a Gold level sponsor in three major US cities—Los Angeles, Austin, and New York City for their primary fundraising event, PurpleStride. In 2015, we participated as a Gold level sponsor in seven cities—Los Angeles, Austin, Houston, Philadelphia, Puget Sound, Boston, and Des Moines.
In August 2015, NewLink Genetics received a special invitation to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network’s annual COLT (Community Outreach Leadership Training) training in San Diego, CA, to present best practices in corporate partnering.
